Icons by Ina Narimanidze
Ina Narimanidze, whom we have commissioned for the production of three icons for our parish, is an expert iconographer of the classic Russian tradition working in Tbilisi, Georgia. The images she makes will last for centuries, if not millennia as they are composed of all-natural, tried-and-true traditional materials: egg tempera painting medium with ground mineral pigments over a foundation of rabbitskin gesso and linen on solid, aged board, tenoned to prevent warpage and cracking. The images are finished with pure burnished gold backgrounds and nimbuses on the figures and covered in boiled linseed oil to provide a uniform sheen and protection from moisture and dirt .
Our parish has already raised the requisite $2000 to pay for all three icons, shipping and insurance.
Any residual funds will be deposited toward future icon commissions. Please contribute today!
Please help us take this important step toward the outfitting of a real
Orthodox worship space in our chapel, by making a pledge or cash
donation today to Fr. John or the parish treasurer, Dr. Emanuel
Hnarakis. You can put checks in our Tithes & Offerings box in the narthex of the church.
