Confession of sin(s) is an essential aspect of working out our salvation with fear and trembling. Orthodox Christians understand confession of sin is a work in progress. One usually begins by listing, or naming the sin(s) committed. This is fairly typical at the beginning of one's walk with Christ. As the grace of the Holy Spirit permeates the heart, it will reveal our unnatural attachment to sin and how specifically we may root it out of our lives.
